Terms of Service
Last updated 15 August 2026 · Version v1-2026-08-15 (draft)
Scanix is operated by Sam M, trading as Scanix Solutions (ABN 66 834 759 267). These terms cover your subscription and use of the Scanix desktop app and website. By ticking the box at signup, you're agreeing to them.
1. What Scanix does
Scanix analyses each electrical plan you upload with exactly three independent AI readings and cross-checks the results to produce a takeoff — an estimated order list of parts and quantities. It speeds up your estimating; it does not replace your professional review.
Every order list is an estimate. Plans can be ambiguous, poorly scanned, or revised after the fact, and a read can miss a symbol or a note. You're responsible for checking a report against the plan before you place an order or quote a job on it — Scanix isn't liable for shortfalls, overages, or costs from orders placed without that check.
2. Your account and subscription
- Subscriptions renew monthly and are billed in advance through Stripe, at the price shown for your tier at signup.
- Your plan-scan allowance resets at the start of each billing period and doesn't roll over. Each scan produces one ready-to-review order list; downloading the resulting report does not use another scan.
- You can cancel anytime yourself: open Manage billing in the Scanix desktop app or sign in at your Scanix account page and choose cancel on the billing page. If you'd rather, email ScanixAUS@outlook.com and I'll cancel it for you. Either way you keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for, and you won't be charged again after that.
- If a payment fails, I'll let you know and give you a chance to update your card before access lapses.
- The account owner can invite team members up to the plan's user-login limit. Team members draw from the account's shared plan-scan allowance. The owner can see business-wide reports; workers can see only reports they generated. You're responsible for each authorised user and what they upload.
- You're responsible for keeping your login credentials to yourself. Let me know straight away at ScanixAUS@outlook.com if you think your account's been compromised.
3. Acceptable use
Use Scanix for your own estimating work. Don't try to break, scrape, resell, or reverse-engineer the app or its scanning pipeline, and don't upload material you don't have the right to use.
4. Your data
Your account, team, and subscription details are held in Supabase, whose primary project region is ap-southeast-2 (Sydney, Australia).
To run a scan, Scanix selects the relevant pages of your plan, renders them as page images, and sends those images to Anthropic's Claude API to be read. On a subscription this routes through Scanix's server-side proxy, which processes in the United States and locations used by Anthropic's subprocessors.
Your original plan file stays on your computer. Scanix does not add the source PDF or image file to its saved-report store after a scan.
Reports are saved to your computer when you generate them. If you're signed in, a copy of the report and its details may also be uploaded to your account in Scanix's private report storage. The account owner can see business-wide reports; workers can see only reports they generated.
This information is used to run scans, show reports, and provide account, billing, security, and support functions. Scanix doesn't sell your information. Full detail lives in the Privacy Policy.
5. No warranty, limited liability
Scanix is provided as-is. I don't promise it'll be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for every job — see section 1 on checking your reports. To the extent the law allows, Scanix's total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the service is capped at the amount you paid in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits any consumer guarantee that applies under Australian Consumer Law and can't lawfully be excluded.
6. Suspension and termination
I can suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, misuses the service, or has payment that's failed and unresolved for an extended period. You can close your own account anytime by cancelling your subscription and emailing ScanixAUS@outlook.com to request deletion. Deletion is carried out on request and permanently removes your reports, usage history, logins and account record; a response-time commitment has not yet been approved, so this draft does not promise a timeframe.
7. Changes to these terms
If I update these terms or pricing in a way that materially changes what you're agreeing to, you'll be asked to accept the new version, or given notice, before it takes effect on your account. Minor clarifications may be made without notice.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia.
